Food Photography Manchester

Hwew we are again in a very special post as I was invited to photograph cooking contest hosted by Village Hotel. The event took place in Bury branch and what a day it was.

We were honoured by great guests judging toe competition. Firstly I had an oportunity to meet Candice Brown, The Great British Bake Off winner. Really charming lady who loves what she does best – baking. Another great celebrity chef was Aiden Bryne, one of the UK’s best chefs. I couldn’t not mention Village Hotel CEO Paul Roberts and head chef Mark Bennett whom I know for a while now.

Great emotions and even greater cooking skills represented by all the contestants. They fought hard for the precious awards and after laborious process of tasting and inspecting each plate the lucky winners were picked.

Here you have some sample pics of the dishes all the contestants prepared as a little war-up. These weren’t final pieces of art, just a startups to get the stress out. I think they look preety good 😉

Once the starters were ready we had a little break and everyone started working on the most important dishes. The atmosphere was great and everyone did their best to impress our judges. Have a look yourself.

Once everyone was happy with their work it came the judging time where each disch was inspected and tasted. Not bad work at all, looking at the dishes it was quite a challenge to pick the best one.

Finally judges selected the winner and everyone awarded received their prize 😉 What a fantastic day, brand new experience that I hope to repeat. I’m very proud of the competitors for inventive approach and great skills. Have a look at the pics of some of the best dishes. Finger licking experience.

Food Photography Manchester

Another great day of photographing food. I was invited by Village Hotels to photograph some of their pub specials. Finger licking affair and I loved every minute of it. We were presented with various dishes, from apetisers through some main courses with tasty desserts at the end. Food looked amazing so after few composition tweaks we were good to go.

A was accompanied by as usual Head Chef and few nice ladies from marketing departament. We had to make sure the results are exactly what we needed. We aimed to get some natural looking shoots that will capture all necessary details and vibrance of freshly cooked food.

On that day I was shooting using my Nikon D800 with some strobes as well as with available light for more moody feel. As a lens I used my favourite Sigma Art 50mm f1/1.4 as well as Sigma 105mm Macro for nice close ups. I’m really happy with the results and I’m sure I will see them again soon when I come in for another shoot.

Food Photography Manchester

I couldn’t have missed this post. This was my very first assingment for this customer and it opened tons of possibilities in the field. I was really excited to get invited by Village Hotels to photograph some of their wedding menu dishes. All dishes prepared by head chef to be used as template through out all the hotel branches. Really important job to do and tons of dishes to photograph. It was a long and exciting day, I managed to try our some new light setups and results were stunning.

I used two light setups, as main setup I used two strobes and white table cloth as a background. This allowed me to shood with greater depth of field to capture more details of each dish. On the side I had another setup, window sill with available light and this time different lens with small depth of field. Doing it this way allowed me to capture everything in completly different way.
